MARCH MANIFESTO
It's early March and Winter has already shot 3 videos that will soon be added to his website. He is also in the planning stages of two more. In Winter's own words, his focus for the year is firmly on shooting "stunning visuals that take us back to good old fashioned storytelling. We're entering a new renaissance for film making," he says. "You can see this in the quality of the films that wound up with Oscar noms in 2007. Music videos have to keep pace. In fact, we have to lead the charge."

UK HIT SINGLE 'THIS GAME' CRACKS TOP TEN
Towards the beginning of summer 2007 Evan Winter flew to the U.K. to shoot the video for Energia's latest hit single 'This Game'. Featuring Marc Andrewes, 'This Game' shows off London in a romantic chase that takes the audience through some of the city's most memorable landmarks. Shot over several days, the video features more than a dozen locations including Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, the Millenium Bridge, Oxford Circus, and Trafalgar Square.

It seems like all the hard work has paid off as 'This Game' is charting heavily. After only 4 weeks on the official upfront club charts it has climbed into the top 10 at number 9. It also held tight to its top 20 spot in the DMC update chart. Congratulations to both Energia and Evan!

BLACK GIRLS RULE INTERVIEWS EVAN
Online magazine Black Girls Rule (www.blackgirlsrule.us) finished up an interview with Evan Winter where they probed his past and ask thoughtful questions about his future. Here are a few excerpts:
BGR:  What have you learned about the process of filmmaking?
EW:  The primary thing that I’ve learned is, that everything in directing is a bit of a compromise with what you would want to do ideally and what can actually be achieved.  It’s important to fight the right battles and to know what’s really going to matter in the end and that they get done.  Some of the smaller things you may have to give up.
BGR:  How do you market yourself?
EW:   I have a manager named Martin Davis of MKM Management and he’s outstanding.  I run my own production company and I work with Martin directly. We can avoid all sorts of overhead which most production companies have and we can do a lot more for less money which is very important in this current climate.
BGR:  Overall is your career moving in the direction that you want?
EW:   I couldn’t be happier with the way that it’s going. You always want to do bigger and better faster.  The main thing that I try to do is enjoy the journey because often times we tend to look too much towards the destination.  If you chase destinations, you’re always looking forward and never appreciating what’s happening around you here and now.

TOP 5 HIT FOR GENERAL
Evan Winter shot a music video in Toronto, Canada for underground rap sensation General this month. The clip, for the heavily rotating 'Hey', was shot on black-and-white film with gritty handheld photography that captured the essence of General's life and neigborhood. Premiering strongly across the nation, the video introduced General to a whole new audience who, clearly loving what it saw and heard, pushed his next single all the way up into the top 5 in Toronto.
